The First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Studies Part 1 course deepens educators' understanding of Indigenous perspectives and cultures within Ontario’s educational framework. Participants will explore the historical and contemporary experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities, integrating Indigenous ways of knowing into teaching practices. The course emphasizes culturally responsive pedagogy, the impacts of colonization, and strategies for fostering inclusive learning environments. By the end, educators will be equipped to incorporate Indigenous content meaningfully, support Indigenous students, and contribute to reconciliation efforts in the classroom.
